More about us

TCC is the brainchild of its founder, Dan Globus. “I created The Compassion Center to teach people how to meditate so that they could utilize Meditation as a tool to address the challenges they face in their lives. Most people have not been taught how to deal with anxiety and how to reduce and relieve stress. Unfortunately, most of us are simply not taught how to deal with the emotional and psychological challenges that we will face in our lives. Without a “tool”, many address these challenges in an unhealthy manner or go through life either ignoring or accepting these difficulties .”

Dan further explains “we learn very quickly that we can temporarily alleviate the issues we face using very powerful medications that are prescribed to us. Some of these medications are life-saving. However, these medications are not intended to be used long-term, they are not a cure for anxiety, stress, and depression. They will never resolve these conditions by themselves. There is also an ever-increasing segment of the population that is not addressing their issues in a very healthy manner. Some are using self-medication approaches including alcohol and drugs to numb their pain while others are using avoidance. My goal is to teach people how to develop a Meditation practice so that they can address their existing issue(s) and utilize their Meditation practice in a way that will allow them to not be overwhelmed by future events.”

Dan has experienced his own psychological and emotional pains for the majority of his life and was fortunate enough to have met and studied under an ordained Tibetan Buddhist monk who taught him a style of Meditation that changed his life. “Meditation has dramatically improved my life and made me a happy person. It can do the same for you and help you to address many of the pains that prevent you from living life to its fullest.” Read Dan Globus’ full story here.

Why should I meditate?

Research has shown that practicing meditation on a regular basis can make you happy (or at least much happier than you may be at present). Meditation has been proven to be one of the most effective and natural ways to control anxiety. Meditation has been proven to be one of the most effective ways to reduce stress. A very interesting thing happens when you first start to meditate. After your first meditation class, you will certainly have a smile on your face at the end of the session and feel that you enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately, this positive feeling will be somewhat short-lived.

So how do we maintain this feeling of happiness? We make a commitment to regular practice at home and visiting TCC as your time will allow. Within as short a time period as a few weeks, you will find people reacting to you in a different manner. Don’t be surprised when complete strangers start to engage in conversations with you. Others will notice the very positive differences in you even though you may not notice these at first.

Achieve Your Goals!

Meditation allows you to reach your goals and fulfill your destiny. Most of us want to reach our greatest potential. We want to perform at our very best whether it is performing our jobs, managing a meeting, giving a lecture, or playing a sport. Meditation allows us to focus our energies and remove the impediments that block our success and happiness in life.

Is Meditation right for you?

The people who come to TCC to learn how to meditate typically range in age from 16 to 80+. They are teachers, nurses, therapists, cops, firemen, lawyers, stay-at-home moms, and retirees. Most people do NOT come to TCC because they are primarily interested in learning how to meditate. They come because they have one or more issues in their lives and have not found a successful solution for their issue(s). Most have issues related to anxiety, extreme stress, and depression. Many of these people are taking prescription medications or it has been “recommended” to them by their doctor that they start taking medication. These people seek a natural way to address their issues so that they don’t have to take medication.

“I am very happy and very proud to say that my Meditation classes have been very successful in helping people deal with extreme anxiety, stress, depression, loss/grief, anger, and physical, and emotional pain. I sincerely care about each person that comes to TCC seeking help. My reason for naming my center The Compassion Center is rooted in what Meditation has done for me and my desire to help others through Meditation. You will find Dan Globus to be a very compassionate and caring person.”
